OneSLEP Tier 2 and overtime

There are several significant differences between IMRF's Sheriff's Law Enforcement Personnel (SLEP) Tier 1 and Tier 2 plans.

One significant difference is that under SLEP Tier 2, wages earned from overtime hours are not reportable as IMRF wages. Therefore, since SLEP Tier 2 overtime wages are not IMRF-reportable wages, member contributions should not be withheld.

To review the differences between Tier 1 and Tier 2 of IMRF's SLEP plan, refer to Section 4.24 B, Monthly Reporting of Member Wages and IMRF Contributions of IMRF's Manual for Authorized Agents.

TwoandahalfNovember 2015 Employer Reminder:
Resignations of disabled IMRF members
Members must understand how resigning from IMRF employment could affect their disability benefits.

Employers should review the disability rules and advise any member receiving disability benefits to call IMRF before resigning from IMRF employment. Calling IMRF first is important because the disability rules are complex.

Read more about the process for resignations of disabled IMRF members in the November 2015 Employer Reminder.
